Election Process: Whose Side is the Sovereign Lord

The United States once again showed to the world how cool the Americans are when it comes to Election Day. It went all peaceful amongst the candidates and their supporters. The losers gracefully accepted the lost and the winners celebrated civilly.

Evidently the Church is practically divided in many ways when it comes to politics. Inside the booth, people voted according to their judgment and choices. The Church has never messed around with people’s choosing for the candidate or propositions and so forth. Nevertheless, the biggest mystery of all is the poll result. Whose side is the Sovereign Lord?

There are even churches and denominations that spent hours of prayer and fasting for their candidate and propositions to win. Some event tempted to join the political process, of course, there is absolutely nothing wrong to be a politician or get involved in. As a matter of fact majority of the signers of the US Constitution are Christians (At this moment, there are socio-political quarters that challenging the legitimacy of this claim.).

But as the body of Christ, we have a mandate from our Lord Jesus – “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations …” (Matthew 28:19).

This is where many believers have been missing the point. They missed the role of the Church in changing the world and to dominate it. The Church needs to wake up and turn this world up side down once again. But how can we effectively accomplish it. It is by going out there, preaching and teaching the word, and making disciples one step at a time.

Sadly, many beleivers of today spend the bulk of their time in programs, performance and entertainment. They forgot the making of disciples. Today’s discipleship is far different from the ways of the early church. People nowadays freak out the moment they hear the word “discipleship.” It is because the devil has perverted the system. Discipleship has turned into messing around other people’s personal and intimate business. Discipleship has become a controlling of someone’s life. People were choking on it and they suffocate on the program. Their leaders (who disciples them) have turned into a slave driver, or becomes their boss man.

Jesus set up the ways to make disciple. First, he became the servant of his disciples. He came to serve them. His disciples didn’t serve him. Second, he fed them with the word of the Father. Jesus didn’t just teach and preach out of his opinion or ideas. His word is the very word of the Father. Third, Jesus showed them how to live the faith of God. Fourth, Jesus explained to them the kingdom of God. And the list goes on.

Praise God because at this very moment, there are men and women of God that boldly teaches and preaches the word of God without fear and without compromise. They preach the unadulterated Word of God, and people are being saved and become disciples, the same as the early church when the disciples fearlessly preached the word.

“…, many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand” (Acts 4:4 NKJV).

“And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all” (Acts 4:33 NKJV).

“And the word of God spread, and the number of disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem …” (Acts 6:7 NKJV).

“And when they had preached the gospel to that city and made disciples …” (Acts 14:21 NKJV).

Praise God because the kingdom of God is advancing all over the world, especially in the remote places of the planet. We have more people of God that opened their hearts for the ministry of word than 20 years ago. Preachers and teachers of the word have become younger and younger, full of the Holy Spirit and zeal. These are all good stuffs, but the devil has been working very hard to put a stop on the word.

“And from the time John the Baptist began preaching until now, the Kingdom of Heaven has been forcefully advancing, and violent people are attacking it.” (Matthew 11:12 NLT)

Since the beginning of the preaching of the Kingdom of God, the devil has been using people, indirectly and directly, to slow down the progress of the propagation of the word of God. The devil has his influence in people of all aspects of life. The vast majority are the religious fanatics. Some belong to public and private sectors with all of their “agendas and causes” to have dominion in our society and of the world.

After the Election Day, there are believers out there felt they were abandoned by God, while others they were heard by God. If we really want to have a positive impact on the life of people around us, or change the world per se, then it’s about time the believers focus on the preaching and teaching of the Word of God – one soul at time.

In Mark 4:26-29 Jesus told his disciples about a principle of the kingdom of God. A farmer sowed seeds on the ground, and then went on to his routine daily activity life without ever thinking how the seeds grew. Harvest time came and he puts in the sickle.

God wants us to produce disciples, not just converts. Disciples are to be taught with the word, not with church program and activities. I know a church that lost their youth program because the young people there were not fed with the word; rather, the fellowship became a social gathering – a hang out. And when the testing of faith came, they collapsed like a building without a foundation.

I have also known a handful of believers who have received the pure word of God faithfully. These are the true disciple of Christ. Their faith is robust. They can stand the storms of life. Although they are not that many; however, they are trully disciples for Christ. They are prosperous, blessed and happy. They have great and awesome impact in the Body of Christ. They are well enough in financially supporting missions and other church ministries.

Discipleship or I would say, the process of teaching the principles of the Kingdom of God, teaching/preaching the Word of God, takes time. There is no short cut for producing crops. Those who expects great harvest overnight are delussional and spiritually deceived, walking according to their flesh.

Again, there is no such thing as instant wealth in the kingdom of God. There is a process, and it takes time in everything: preparing the ground, planting the best seeds, and then wait for harvest time. The same holds true for a ministry. There is no such thing as instant mega church, or instant “the founder” of a ministry. You cannot steal or covet other people’s blessing, or position. As a matter of fact, wealth that is possessed illegally is evil – obviously. Unless you behave like Esau, who did not care about his birthright, he sold it to Jacob for a bowl of soup. It is evil to steal someone’s birthright.

The point I’m making is that believers should and must plant the seed of the word of God in every people’s heart. If we have the burden to change the world. Going on to be a politician is a choice between and your God. If God calls you to be one, then go for it. We have to do this very aggressively, forcefully advancing the Kingdom of God, preaching and teaching the word uncompromisingly. In propagating the word of God, we have to utilize every new technology and advance science we have in this generation.

To answer the question “Election process: whose side is the Sovereign Lord? The Lord always sides on His children. The children of the kingdom mind God’s ways and His will. We are the ambassadors for Christ. We represent the kingdom of Christ. In the very near future, all the kingdoms of this world shall vanished and burned into ashes, and their kings and rulers shall not be remember no more. But our Lord Jesus remains forever as the King of kings and Lord of Lords. Jesus is Lord!
