“… much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:17 NKJV).
One of the many devastating tools the devil uses against a believer is self-condemnation, a feeling of unworthiness, a sense of not doing enough to please the Lord. This consciousness of fear of failing to meet “the par” to please God is all based on legalism. Legalism is founded on human standard. It is extremely subjective; it reacts according to a person’s feeling – depressed, guilty, confused, satisfied, etc.
This feeling of unworthiness or guilt or condemnation have arrested many believers and placed them in spiritual locked-up. Because of the guilt and feeling of not doing well for the Lord, their faith become paralyzed, there is no boldness to resist the devil, to cast-out evils spirits, rebuke sickness and diseases, command blessings to flow into their lives.
A good example is prayer. Just how much time a believer should spend his time in prayer to please God. Or what behavior a believer should maintain to please the Lord. Or how do a believer acts, talks, dress, show his/her feelings in public or in private to please His maker. Where and what is the standard of human behavior, feelings, thoughts and emotions in order to please God? And who makes that determination or who is going to draw the line if a believer has failed or passed? Don’t tell me it’s another human being who likes preaching “self-righteousness” by spitting out don’t do this and don’t do that? Give me a break!
I could not stand someone preaching over my face on how to be holy and to be righteous in order to please the Lord, because that person is not qualified to admonish me so. There is no one holy or righteous in the sight of God – no one! And he is not a judge either.
A good example is healing or baptism of the Holy Spirit. Many could not receive their healing or the baptism of the Holy Spirit because some hot shot preacher at many times has condemned a whole congregation of believers. The preacher went on to say, “You cannot receive your healing or the baptism of the Holy Spirit because you are not pleasing the Lord for doing this or that.”
Healing and baptism of the Holy Spirit is not received according to our performance or by obeying certain regulations and man-made laws of behavior. We receive God’s miracles and His Holy Spirit by faith. Paul rebukes the Galatians because they are falling on this trap of the enemy. It is a deception.
“This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? … Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?” (Galatians 3:2-5 NKJV)
We need to go back and major on the basic foundation of our salvation and redemption which is in Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (NKJV)
Now, the righteousness of God is freely given to all who believe in Jesus Christ. It is the gift of righteousness. A believer in Christ becomes righteous in the sight of God not because of his own merit, not of his performance, not according to his obedience of man-made laws or the “does and don’ts” of his denomination or local church. The gift of righteousness is received and appropriated by faith alone.
“But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”
(Romans 3: 21-24 NKJV)
A believer who is conscious of his position in Christ, especially him (believer) who is made righteous in the sight of God, everything becomes possible to him (believer). Sin consciousness is eradicated in his mind, in his thoughts, in his feelings, in his vocabulary, in his consciousness. He is free from every condemnation of the devil, free from every accusation of guilt, falling short, not good enough to please the Lord.
Read Hebrews 4:16. Because there is no more feeling of condemnation or feeling of guilt, or accusations from the devil, we can enter boldly to the throne of God’s grace and there we shall obtain mercy and God’s grace in time of our need.
We don’t need to pray long prayers assuming that long prayers will change the mind of God and answer our petitions. God does not answer our prayers according to works. He answers our prayers because we put our trust in Him and in His Word. For without faith it is impossible to lease Him (Hebrews 11:6).
Again, no one can buy his salvation or put a price a tag of his place in heaven. Good works, following man-made rules and regulations, obeying denominational laws, self-imposed righteousness, subjective doing what is “right” and “not right” are all works of the law. Our salvation is based on the redemption of Christ alone. It is through the act of God’s mercy and grace, His love that we are saved. Even the faith that we have used to obtain salvation is from God. The saving faith is not even ours. The saving faith is from God, it is the gift of God so no one should boast.
You see, salvation is not based on how we feel. We don’t judge ourselves that we are saved because we woke up on the right side of the bed feeling great and feeling saved. Our feeling has nothing to do with our salvation. Salvation is by faith. Faith has no feeling. Faith is the absolute surrender of our selves and trust in the Word of God and in trust in Him and in His promises. Our feeling has no bearing on the will of God, in His Word and in His promises.
If you are a believer in Christ, then you are complete in Him (Colossians 2:10). You are righteous in the sight of God and in the sight of all spiritual beings. You can access God’s grace without limit. You can possess what belongs to you. You are healed in the Name of Jesus. You cane receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit with speaking in tongues because the Holy Spirit is a gift for you to possess.
Having therefore declared by His Word and that through His grace and the gift of righteousness, in Christ Jesus, we reign in life. Yes, we are above only in life. We are absolute on top of everything no matter how bleak our circumstances are. We are world over comer because of the faith of God that is in us. And we always triumph in Christ, all the time.
