Our Faith Shall Be In the Power of God

“And my speech and preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God” (1 Corinthians 2:4-5 NKJ).

The word “power” in the above verses came from a Greek word “dunamis” which means force, ability, abundance, might, miracles, power, strength, violence, and mighty work.

As you grow in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, you’ll soon discover that there is that tranquil power and strength of God resting deep inside of you. And because of that, you have a calm but resilient spirit to stand and resist the attacks of the devil. You have that consciousness of being immersed in His gentle and yet mighty presence, having the awareness of His overflowing abundance of goodness and grace.

The power of God can be learned and lived if you will only allow Him to rule over you spirit, soul and body. It is a total submission to His will. In John 15:5, Jesus is asking you let Him live in you, “Abide in Me, I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.”

It is only by allowing the life of God to live in you so that the power of God will bear fruits in your life. Every desire of your heart will surely come to manifest and become a reality. Every prayer and supplication will soon bear it fruits. You can boldly enter in the presence of God without fear. Just like Moses when he told his people, “Do not be afraid. Standstill, and see the salvation of the Lord, for which He will accomplish for you today…”

As you mature in Christ, it’s easier for you to discern someone who speaks with persuasive words of human wisdom, or someone who speaks with the demonstration of the Spirit and power of God. And your life becomes a witness of God’s mighty power here on earth.

This should be the prayer of the Body of Christ that our faith must be laid in the foundation of the power of God and not in the wisdom of men. You’ll notice that the majority of books and magazines that are published by what we consider bible believing based publishers, are centered on the wisdom of men. Most are not founded on the power of God. If this is the case then, what messages do we receive on our services, fellowships, conventions and seminars?

The world of God declares that you cannot give what you don’t have. Therefore, if you don’t have the power of God, then what else can you give? You may preach about the word of God, but it does not mean you have preached the word of God. There is a vast difference between listening about the word of God and listening to the word of God. We all must understand that faith only comes by hearing and hearing of the word of God and the wisdom of men can never produces faith. As a matter of fact, the wisdom of men is against the wisdom of God (Word of God).

To produce powerful Christians, we need to have the unadulterated pure word of God. It is only by the feeding of the sincere pure Word of God that will make us grow in the faith. We don’t need additional commentaries of the Bible. We don’t need more opinions. We need the revelation of God by the power of the Holy Spirit. It is the spiritual food, not mental knowledge that we need to grow in the faith.

The apostle Paul said that his speech and preaching were not of persuasive words of men’s wisdom, but of the power of God. What is men’s wisdom anyway? Men’s wisdom is the wisdom of this world. It is a perverted wisdom and it is contrary to the wisdom of God. The Bible declares that Christ is the wisdom of God and the power of God.

Therefore, the message that we need to hear that lead us to the stature of Christ is the message of Christ. And that message is this: the revelation of the love of God, the knowledge and understanding of what Christ has done for us, and what we have in Him.

We know that faith is founded on the word of God and it is a powerful force for those who know how to use it. Throughout church history people have been receiving the power of God because they knew how to operate in faith. They have solid Biblical teaching of the word of God, which was contrary to all human wisdom. During His earthly ministry, when people were unable to receive the power of God, Jesus began to teach the word throughout an entire village. He started teaching from one house to the other and revealing them the word of God.

God expects you to live by faith and use your faith actively while you are here on earth. You need to understand that faith is not a mere mental knowledge but a spiritual force. This spiritual force which is called faith has the capacity to receive the power of God and it can dominate all powers in the physical world.

As you immerse your spirit in the word of God, you will receive revelation knowledge of His divine power which is already within you. However, you need to discipline yourself to meditation and live in obedience to His word. You need to realize that when you received Christ, you also received the power of God, because Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:24). A victorious Christian is always conscious of the reality of the power of God that is already mightily working in him. As a matter of fact, a believer is a walking power of God.

“And what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power” (Ephesians 1:19 NKJ).

The power of God is exceedingly great and mighty, and that power belongs to us. This power of God is given to every believer. There is no reason and hard to imagine that a believer will ever lose the good fight of faith. We cannot fathom that a believer is being whipped by the devil. We will never lose in the fight of faith because we have the power of God that is mightily working in us.

This power of God is exceedingly great and mightily working in us. This verse of the Bible should have already made you go ballistic and do mighty works in the kingdom of God. How else could you describe “exceeding greatness of His power?” Literally it meant immeasurable power of God. And this God’s power is working mightily in us in the present time not when we are dead and living in heaven. And it is “mightily” working in us. The word “mightily” means extremely or extraordinary. There is an extremely and extraordinary power of God that is working in you right at this very moment. That power can be activated when you step up to the realm of obedience – obeying the word. Are you able to obey the word even though the physical evidence surrounds you is contrary to the word of God?

This is the wisdom of God that the world cannot receive. The wisdom of God is to live by faith. You don’t wait for the physical evidence before you believe and obey God. Don’t do it on the reverse mode. Rather, you obey first and then the result will come. This power of God can only be received and be enjoyed by those know how to believe.
