“Go therefore and make …”

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 27:19-20).

Every born again Christian believer is called and is given the assignment by our Lord Jesus Christ to GO and MAKE disciples by TEACHING them.

A born again believer shall do the three things the Lord Jesus wants him to do. GO, MAKE and TEACH. The Book of Ecclesiastes reveals one of the inevitable truths that everything in life has a season and a time for every purpose. Although all of us must remain students and disciples for Christ, however, there is a time to be mentored and a time to be a mentor.

We all know that one of the keys to spiritual growth is obedience to His Word. And one of the quickest ways (not a short cut) is doing something for the kingdom of God. Or having a responsibility along with accountability in the Body of Christ, and you may start that on your local church. You see, a child of God cannot remain seated forever in a church pew. Every believer must find his/her part in the Body and perform it according to God’s grace. Otherwise, he/she will spiritually deteriorate, dry up to the bones and die the spiritual death because of spiritual imbalance.

The Lord Jesus commanded us to GO.

Time will come when you have to launch into the deep, where the calling of God is waiting for you, and you have to play the role God has assigned for you in the Body of Christ. You don’t want to miss this opportunity God has placed in your heart, for this is a sign post along your paths for successful living. It is a perfect will of God and a perfect timing in your life. The Bible says that God makes it beautiful in its time. When that time arrives, the Spirit of the Lord will tell you and graciously lead you into the path of life. And ultimately be transformed into a warrior of God, prepared and ready for the battle.

When God opens door for you, no one can able to block it, because you are coming in and going out with His anointing and blessings. Even the gates of hell cannot prevail. When the Spirit of the Lord opens doors, get in and do what God wants you to do. However, many of us have been waiting and waiting for the open doors when God had already opened multiple doors and yet we doubted if they were from God.

As a start, working under the leadership of your pastor and working within the vision of the church is the perfect will of God in your life. And as you go along participating in the ministry of your local church, you develop your skills, learn the ways of God, and eventually prepare you for your ministry that God has specifically assigned and designed for you. Because you are unique, without comparison to any one, God’s assignment for you is far different from others. Once you’re ready, then off you go launching into the deep, doing the perfect will of God in your life as a warrior for the kingdom of God.

The Lord Jesus commanded us to MAKE.

We are to make disciples for Christ. We are not just to make converts for Christ. Making disciples is the bottom line of everything we do in this life. The word “make” means to cause to happen to or be experienced by someone, to cause to exist, occur, or appear. It is a creative word, full of action, very dynamic, very positive. It is a faith-filled word.

When you say “I’ll make…,” it means you are expecting to produce or come out with something or anything. As a matter of fact the word “make” is innovation. God has called us to make or innovate, and the end product is His disciples. God has given us His exceeding wisdom and His exceeding knowledge to do the works of the kingdom. But we limit ourselves by limiting God in our lives and in our ministry.

Our religious traditions, religious ways and religious thinking have placed us in a chokehold that paralyzes us to perform in optimum. We tend to live in the past. We stubbornly apply our old ways and expect that they still work. Every generation has its own life. Every day is a new day. There is a season for everything under the sun. Each season is unique from others. There is no comparison for every season, for every generation and for every day of our life.

It’s no wonder that the Bible is teaching us that today is the day of salvation. It’s not yesterday or tomorrow, but today. Also, the Bible is teaching us that faith is now, not later but now. The Bible also teaches that when we hear the Word today, we must receive it today and not hardened our hearts. Jesus also preached to his disciples not to worry about tomorrow, rather think only about today.

Today is the day to go and make disciples for Christ. Let’s be creative and innovative in making disciples for Jesus. As a child of God and by the anointing of the Holy Spirit, you have been given the ability and the power to do what God has commanded you to do. There is a gazillion ways of approaching an unbeliever and introduce Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. You don’t have to preach or teach for now, but introduce a Person to someone. And that Person is Jesus.

The Lord Jesus commanded us to TEACH.

Religious tradition has blinded our minds when it comes to sharing Jesus Christ to the world. Religious mind stands in a corner of a street and screaming like a fool about hell, making all kinds of threats, just to win people for Christ. In reality, nobody will stop and listen to a fool like that. The fool is preaching so loud that nobody could able to hear what he was yelling and screaming about. To win people to follow Christ is to show who the followers of Christ are.

Someone has said that the best teacher is the exemplar, and the best way to persuade is character. That is true in light of the Bible’s perspective. The Bible commanded us to let our lights shine. Let us be the salt of the earth. Let us speak with grace and with wisdom. Bottom line is let our life, our lifestyle, speak the Gospel of Christ to others. Real children of God are not hypocrites, and they are not religious either. They make mistakes just like the rest of the inhabitants of the planet earth are, but they do it without malice.

Our life must reflect the life of Jesus Christ. Our life is the solid and the un-refutable witness for Christ.
