Jesus is Happy

Didn’t you know that Jesus is the happiest person alive? Imagine, for just three and a half years He has accomplished His purpose and got what He wants. Not only that, He left His mark on the face of the Earth, and sure enough the inhabitants of the planet have changed forever. What an awesome achievement! Any ordinary carpenter’s kid must have been jumping and screaming for joy with that overwhelming exploit. Have you seen a soccer game yet with a goaaaaaaaaaaaaal! Jesus is happy.

Follow the ministry of Jesus and you will notice that He is a “people person” obviously, to the nth degree. He enjoys being around people and you’ll see Him talking with someone at all times. He was just having fun with people. He attends weddings, funerals, diners, scripture readings in the temple, visits people’s houses, roaming around the shore of Galilee and across town and provinces to meet people after people. He mingles with people of low life, with sinners, with men and women of various statures. He can start a conversion with a woman and offer the best gift any man can not give – the living water. Multitudes follow Him day and night. At times He had to sneak out into a quiet place just to regain Himself. Jesus is happy.

Being happy is a trait of a “people person.” Happy people easily attract people. You’ll be amazed how Jesus will throw you a smile at an instant. It’s no wonder that little children are not afraid of Him. As a matter of fact, they enjoy being with Him. Jesus is happy.

Read Mark 10:13, “Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, blessed them.”

Yes, Jesus took them up in His arms. Those little children did not shy away from Him. They saw the child in Jesus. He is happy. And the kids love Him. Jesus is happy.

What then is the secret of Jesus? Where did Jesus draw His happiness?

Read John 13:12-17 (KJV), “So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. Verily, verily I say unto you, the servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. If ye know these things happy are ye if ye do them.”

Jesus said, “If ye know these things happy are ye if ye do them.” Jesus is talking about being a servant. And that is one of the secrets of being happy. Dictionary defines servant as one that serves others. Service to others is almost a forgotten message within Christian circles. Reaching out for people is Christ’s heart. It is sad that majority of believers set their priorities wrong. Before ascending to heaven, Jesus’ last word is, “… go and make disciples of all the nations.”

The happiest people on earth are those in the mission fields, where they share the good news of Christ and witness people’s lives change.

The happiest people on earth are those who never worry what suit to wear for the next Sunday services, but those who give their precious time to share the goodness of God to their neighbors.

The happiest people on earth are those who bust the soles of their feet against the highways and the byways for reaching out to the lost souls, inviting them to the great buffet of the goodness of God.

The happiest people on earth are those who tear down the walls of their comfort and escape into the sea of humanity and share the goodness of God.

Jesus said that He came to serve and not to be served. Christians should be the happiest people on earth. This is their calling – to serve. Happy are you if you do this.

Servant hood is by faith and through faith alone. Without faith, servant hood becomes a burden. When service becomes a burden, it becomes toxic. You cannot serve God with a toxic heart. You can’t give with a toxic heart either. Servant hood is faith in action. Servant hood is the ultimate expression of love. And faith works through love.

People whine and complain because of lack of revelation to serve. They have no idea or clue on how to reach out for people. Whiners are self centered and care too much for themselves. As a matter of fact majority of people know nothing about their neighbors because they don’t care. They care for themselves only and they are not happy.

Proverbs 14:21, “He that despiseth his neighbor sinneth; but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.”

Another secret of being happy is to show mercy to the poor. This is what Jesus did on earth. He has shown compassion to the needy. He came to give life and that life is abundant life. Jesus has redeemed man from the bondage of poverty.

Proverbs 3:18, “She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her; and happy is every one that retaineth her.

The scripture above talks about the wisdom of God. Another secret of being happy is having the wisdom of God working in your life. Wisdom is applied knowledge of God. It gives you insights to both spiritual and practical way of living. As you can see the wisdom of God always runs opposite of the wisdom of this world. For you to gain, the wisdom of God tells you to give. However, the world will tell you to hoard. It’s opposite.

Wisdom will give you all you needed to be happy. Proverbs 4:7-9, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom, and in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; she will place on your head an ornament of grace; a crown of glory she will deliver to you.”

Wisdom or the word of God is the principal thing. Exalt the word of God in your life, or surround your whole being with the word of God. You live and move through the word of God. God’s word shall never leave your heart, thoughts, and your lips. Through the wisdom of God there is promotion, grace and success.

Proverbs 16:20, “He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the Lord, happy is he.”

What else could be said about trusting in the Lord? Trusting is another facet of faith. Dictionary defines trust as the assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something; one in which confidence is placed.

Trusting in the Lord is trusting in His word. His word and God is one. You cannot separate His word from Himself. If God says, then it is. Whatever the word of God promises you or has given you, receive it because you can trust Him. He never lies. He is not like a man who lies.

The happiest people on earth are those who know how to trust in the Lord. They can boldly come into the throne of grace and receive God’s goodness. They take God by His word. They believe and obey His word. They never doubt or waver in their trust in His promises. No matter how bleak a situation is, the word of God prevails.

Psalm 144: 15, “Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the Lord.

A child of God is the happiest creature on the face of the earth. If you claim to be a child of God, but unhappy then something is wrong. The word of God never lies. You cannot twist the word of God to conform to your feelings or thoughts or what people have to say. The word of God is forever settled. Happy is that people, whose God is the Lord.

Whenever the children of God gather, in the church or at homes, the gatherings should be an eruption of joy and thanksgiving. The place should be a place of happy faces. Can you imagine Jesus in the crowd? He must have been smiling, laughing and enjoying your company. He is just having fun. Jesus is happy.

Therefore, the next time you gather together in the name of Jesus, beware because He is there in the midst of you. And you guys must have been smiling and laughing, because Jesus is happy.
