Salvation is by grace and grace alone. There is no iota of any particular requirement, unique gift or special talent wherein a sinful man qualifies to become a child of God. You cannot buy a stairway to heaven (if there’s one).
Ephesians 2:8- 9 (NKJV), “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
The same is true with ministry. It is by the grace of God that you have been a part of the Body of Christ. God has qualified you to be in the ministry. It is a lie from hell to claim that you belong to a special group of people who have been uniquely gifted, and therefore qualified to work in a “special assignment” for God.
The Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 3:5-6 (NLT), “It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God. He has enabled us to be ministers of his new covenant.”
It is God who qualifies you to be in the ministry. You don’t qualify yourself. As far as God is concern, He does not need your specialty and unique gift to work in His vineyard. The truth is God uses the opposite for His glory. According to Paul, it was God who has enabled him to become a minister of the new covenant.
The ministry of Christ is the new covenant. There’s a whole lot of confusion within Christian circles regarding the truth because of ignorance of the ministry of the new covenant. The many so called Christian teachers/preachers have to learn the “new covenant” ministry. Although they claim being born again, their concept of faith still based on the old covenant (Old Testament). They think, believe, act, pray and even speak like an Old Testament un-regenerated religious extremists. They have no clue of who the new creation man is, or what is a new creation.
When the Apostle Paul was found by Jesus, Paul ditched his Old Testament system of belief and considered it a trash. He wrote in Philippians 3:8, “Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ.”
There you go. Paul deemed everything that he had as garbage. And that included his membership to a special group of people and his unique gift (if he actually had one).
In 1 Corinthians 12:8, “But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased.”
In the new covenant, a child of God belongs to His body – the Church. God gives him a role in the body of Christ, just as He pleased. A child of God cannot by his own will chose what role to take. It is God who places people where they belong and to work in His vineyard.
Again, in the new covenant you cannot simply start a ministry because you think it is easy to do. Worst, you cannot appoint yourself as a ministering judge for the Body of Christ. In the new covenant, there is no such office in the Body of Christ. So don’t waste your breath judging the brethren of their mistakes. Leave that to the devil, who is from the beginning the accuser of the brethren.
Go spread the good news to billions of lost souls instead. Tell them the new covenant. The first, second, third or fourth world countries are waiting for someone to show up with real boldness and with a fearless heart to share the message of the cross and Christ’s resurrection. Every believer, including you is called in that ministry – spreading the Gospel of Christ. As a new creation in Christ, you have the responsibility to share the good news.
Another notorious confusion within the Christian circles is the spiritual gifts. The truth is there is no private ownership of any of the spiritual gifts. Spiritual gifts are from the Holy Spirit. You cannot roam around the world and pronounce you have the gifts of whatever. Spiritual gift is for edification and building up of the church. To be able to experience these gifts, you must be in the edification and building up of the church business. Other than that, you are on your own.
Apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers are the only ministerial positions in the Body of Christ, nothing else. Not man, but God fills these positions as He pleased. You don’t go to a Bible school and become an apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor and teacher. You don’t wake up in the middle of a night and all of a sudden decided to become a prophet or whatever. Again, you cannot qualify yourself in the ministry. It is God who qualifies, not you. Remember the day when you took a job interview? They would tell you, “Don’t call us, we’ll call you.” If God wants you in the ministerial position, He’ll call you.
In Ephesians 3:7, “Of which I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power.”
Paul became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God and by God’s power. Paul’s accomplishments, education, religious background, and financial status did not qualify him to become a minister or being called into the ministry. It is by the grace of God alone that Paul had become an apostle. Evidently he was not a false one. By the power of God and His grace, Paul fought the good fight of faith and finished the race. He was never a burden to anyone financially, morally, ethically and legally – a mark of real man of God.
