When Jesus selected His team to carry out a mission impossible, he did not surround him of people with superior intelligence, superior ability or superior talent. Rather, Jesus has chosen ordinary men to do extra ordinary things. He only needed twelve local men, and the rest is His story. They turned the world upside down and the gates of hell were shaken its foundation. Why did Jesus do that?
Jesus did that so nobody would take the credit for the success of the mission, only God. In 1 Corinthians 1:28, “…and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are not, that no flesh should glory in His presence.” The answer to the question is simple: that no man shall boast in the presence of God. No man is ever qualified to do the things of God; however, God made him qualified by His mercy and grace to do the things of God. Only God receives the glory, because He is the one who gives the increase. “…Paul has planted, Apollos watered, God gave the increase.” (1 Corinthians 3:6). Know that every successful Christian ministry in the planet earth is not a result of man’s ability, but God’s. It is not the gifted man or woman who did it, but God did it. God uses the foolish things in this world to confound the wise.
God wants you to walk in faith, in obedience to His Word, following His principles. God has done everything for you to live the life He wants you to be. He wants you to succeed and live a life of victory. He sent His Son to die on the cross for you. He took away your sin and the effects of sin. He took away your sickness and diseases. He took away your failures. He took away your pain and sufferings. He took away condemnation and any judgment against you. He has given you the newness of life. All God wants from you is open your heart for Him and allow Him to be your Lord and Savior, and obey His Word.
The root cause of man’s suffering is the power of sin. When sin entered the earth, earth became subject to the devil. Evil became the rule of the day. Man turned into a murderer. Hate and jealousy boils from the inner sanctum of his heart. His heart is full of evil. His thought is ruled by darkness. He became a child of a liar. He is deceitful, a rebel and enemy of God. His life is miserable. No joy, no peace. He is ever fearful of his life. He suffered sickness and diseases and in deep poverty. He has to toil the ground and sweat to survive. Evil is all around him. He cannot save himself. He is in agony. He is depraved. But glory to God! He has rescued man by the power of the resurrection of Christ that is now working in every believer’s life.
In Philippians 3:10, “That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection,” the apostle Paul is longing to know the power of the resurrection of Christ. He considered everything he possess as irrelevant and counted them all as garbage for the sake of knowing Christ and the power of His resurrection. His Hebrew lineage is garbage. His theological knowledge is garbage. His religious zeal is garbage. His skills, abilities and capabilities are garbage.
So, what is in the power of the resurrection of Christ that the apostle Paul had to trash out his Pharisaical theological intellect? Indeed, Paul has experienced the resurrection power of Christ. He wrote in Romans 6:4, “Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in the newness of life.”
The resurrection power of Christ gave birth to a new man. The old man died with Christ when Christ died on the cross. The old man was buried with Christ when Christ was buried in the bottom pit of hell. The old man was raised into a new man when Christ was raised from the dead. Paul received the newness of life – no wonder Christianity is not a religion but a life from God. Many Christian who have been in the church for too long, are still ignorant of this truth. There is no excuse. You have the Bible in your hand and the Holy Spirit who constantly convicting you and guiding you. Read your Bible and meditate in the Word. Stop complaining to God. Complaining is the avenue of the devil. When you complain, the devil will nurture that complaint into bitterness, consequently you become callous in your heart. Slowly, you become an instrument of the devil in spreading bitterness in the body of Christ.
Romans 6:6-7, “Knowing this our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer slaves of sin. For he who has died has been freed from sin.” The resurrection power of Christ has indeed overcome and subdued the power of sin and the effects of sin, and death. Because Christ was raised from the dead, the believer is made righteous and was justified in the sight of God. In the eyes of God, you, the believer has no sin. You are holy and blameless, because of what Christ did on the cross. You cannot, by your own effort, make yourself sinless, blameless and holy. Only by the blood of Jesus and His resurrection from the dead makes you a new creation, a new man. Therefore, a believer shall come into the presence of God with boldness in his heart. There shall be no condemnation in his heart and in his mind. He shall come in His presence with rejoicing, praising Him and glorifying Him. You know, the believer needs to change his attitude and his behavior according to the attitude of a resurrected man. God desires to see you enjoying what Christ has accomplished on the cross, on the grave and on the resurrection.
Romans 8:11, “But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” Not only that the believer was made alive in his spirit, however, his body also receives healing because of the resurrection power of Christ. When Christ resurrected from the dead, all dead cells in His body received life, death cannot hold Him. Death cannot paralyze Him. Christ has overcome death. The body of Christ is healed, freed from the torments of hell, and the devil has to bow his knees in the Name of Jesus. Therefore, you, the body of Christ, have been healed from all kinds of sickness and diseases. You should have been enjoying the new life you received from God, and enjoying the power of the resurrection of Christ.
Ephesians 1:19-20, “And what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places.” The power of the resurrection of Christ that is now working in the lives of believers has no earthly measure to compare with. Your talent, ability, intelligence, capability, race, family, education, and all your resources have no value in comparison with the power of the resurrection of Christ. One thing God wants you to do, put on and live the resurrected life. If God has given His Son Jesus Christ to us, then how much more will God give to us all things (Romans 8:32).
God wants you to stand up, and act like a child of God. Stop living the old man. Open up your eyes and see that you are created in the image of God, and let your Father in heaven be proud of you. Put on the new man. God is not going to put it on for you. You put it on.
